National League Central Division Champions

One pitch. One swing.

That's all it took in the bottom of the ninth for the Reds to clinch the NL Central. Watching it on my iPad, the screen said "In play: run(s)" as my heart stopped beating for a full minute until it showed "Cincinnati 3, Houston 2 FINAL".

I didn't do anything for a few minutes, and just thought about how perfect of a way it was to clinch. The Reds were second in the league with 44 come-from-behind-wins. Out of those 44, exactly half were in their final at bat.

I texted my friend (a Phillies and general baseball fan) thinking he'd be happy for me. No no no. He's a Phillies fan. That didn't bring me down at all though.

I stopped studying and spent the next 45 minutes watching and re-watching highlight of Jay Bruce's walk off bomb. The last time the Reds made the playoffs, I was six. Jay Bruce was seven.

I'm not expecting anything this postseason, just looking forward to my Reds playing games on TV in October.

Here's a dramatic and funny photo gallery of last night's celebration.
