Sporting News named Reds GM Walt Jocketty their Executive of the Year last week. Jocketty was named general manager in 2008 and in just two year, brought the Reds back to the playoffs for the first time since 1995.
The Reds 91 wins were the most for the franchise since 1999 and they posted a winning season for the first time in a decade. Jocketty was serious about winning from day one.
"We had to teach everybody from the front office to the players that we can turn this around and be successful," Jocketty told Sporting News.
It would've been easy for Sporting News to give it to Brian Sabean, but I really like the fact that they gave it to a GM of a team that surpassed all expectations and put together a great season.
